Dolostone
Biogenous sedimentary rock.
Very fine-grained dolomitic limestone displaying folded sedimentary layers. Dolostone is a mineralogical replacement of limestone (common in early Paleozoic and Precambrian carbonate rocks). This ample displays an unusual surface weathering pattern caused by wind abbrasion.
Probably of Cambrian age eroded from the Funeral Mountains area, Death Valley area, California. |
